COVID-19 Update: Our online inventory is currently being revised. Our staff was unable to fully update all inventory prior to the City of Denver‘s "stay at home" order on March 24. Please call 720–842–2223 or email salvagedesigncenter@gmail.com before placing your order, so we may confirm that we still have this item available. Thank you for your patience!

On Sat, July 25 & Sun, July 26, join us at Salvage Design Center to fractal burn and finish your own live edge slab table top! Fractal wood burning is the process of using high voltage electricity to create tree or lightning-like figures, and has become popular among professional and hobbyist woodworkers. The fractal burning creates grooves in the wood that can be filled with a colored resin before finishing with epoxy.

Participants can choose to come (both days) between 9-11 am, 11am - 1pm, 1-3pm, or 3-5pm.

Day 1 (Sat, July 25): Our fractal burning expert, Joe Middleton of Electrifying Art, will work one on one with every participant as you safely fractal burn your own slab. After the burn, you'll learn to pour colored resin into the burn lines and finish with epoxy. Your slab will then dry overnight.

Day 2 (Sun, July 26): Participants will return to sand and finish their slabs. This takes much less time than Day 1's activities, so you likely won't be staying for the entire two hours.

Your $399 ticket fee entitles you to one-on-one coaching from fractal burning expert Joe Middleton, plus all necessary supplies and tools to make your table top. This includes resin, epoxy, and one live edge slab of Beetle Kill Pine (aka Blue Stain Pine) that will be suitable for fractal burning. Slabs will be approximately 4 ft x 14-16 in x 1.5 in. Our Beetle Kill Pine is all sustainably salvaged in the Rocky Mountains from fallen trees that were killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle. Learn more about the unique benefits and appearance of Beetle Kill Pine on our website at salvagedesigncenter.com/pages/beetle-kill-pine.

This class fee does not include table legs or a table base, but Salvage Design Center will have a few options available for those who would like to purchase one. We also partner with a local blacksmith/welder who can build you a custom base!

Ticket holders are welcome to bring additional guests to enjoy the process and watch you create your art, but the ticket only covers materials for one table top. Bring a date, bring your parents, bring your kids (participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by a guardian), or bring anyone you'd like to spend the day with- the more the merrier!
